Bulldozing encampments is as expensive as it is ineffective. 90% of people who are living in encampments are already on waiting lists for housing. Mayor Frey's approach is to make our unhoused neighbors invisible. That’s not a solution, that’s playing politics with people's lives.

The goal is to have no encampments. But until the city funds housing-first solutions, they're inevitable. Frey's encampment sweeps don't work. He isn't solving homelessness, he's wasting valuable resources. Everyone deserves a dignified path to housing, not a fenced off sidewalk.

Regulate the rental market and build public housing. Implement vacancy fines, fine slumlords for inhuman living conditions, and hire inspectors to enforce all of this. Unregulated capitalism is killing us. Housing is a human right.
