Point of all this being. The batshit crazy behaviour of Trump and his clown car cronies are is emboldening not only Moscow but also Beijing. China is showing off its muscle in the Pacific, and threatening to forcibly annex Taiwan. Europe is re-arming to counter Putin’s aggressive intentions.

The US has now sent the USS Shiloh over to Australia, from Tahiti where it had been on routine mission. (The Shiloh is a Ticonderoga class missile warship.

During this passage this task force have on at least a couple occasions undertaken live fire exercises.

Further, China is right now rattling its sabres in the Indo-Pacific region. For the last few weeks a Chinese naval task force (two warships and a support vessel) have been circumnavigating Australia. Staying just out of territorial waters but well inside the Australian exclusive economic zone.

But with the new Trump isolationist stance - coupled with what China and the rest of the world perceive to be an administration in shambles, unwilling and likely unable to respond to much of anything - China is taking this opportunity to annex a free nation.

One of the consequences of this is some serious sabre rattling from China. They have made it clear that they intend to “re-unify” with Taiwan. The threat of US intervention has prevented this for 75 years.

The USA has abandoned its role in NATO, become a willing or unwitting stooge of Russia (depending on your point of view), and has chosen to alienate traditional allies in favour of placating and endorsing fascist, authoritarian regimes around the world .

While my US friends are rightfully distressed and focused on the circus that has taken over in DC, there are consequences to this shit show well beyond the borders of the USA.
