Disability benefit cuts impossible to support, 42 Labour MPs tell Starmer.
Defend the poor, old, sick, disabled.
Spread the rebellion. Meet your MP face-to-face. Tell him/her to vote against the cuts.
We are all one accident/illness away from needing benefits.
Tax the rich. End profiteering.
Welcome funding for community pharmacies which, like GP practices & other community services, have been underfunded for years
Extra funding is necessary. However, it is unlikely to save GP time as promised by NHS England & DHSE

Staggering profiteering from the 5 main private companies providing cataract removals to the NHS.
Β£169 million in 2023-24 alone - a profit margin of 32%.
This is taxpayers' money being squandered on private payouts.

Truly unbelievable. We know that austerity Mark 2 will lead to more suffering and deaths.
This is not what we voted for - this and the coming cuts to benefits for those with disability will end in disaster for England and Labour.

There wasnβt a problem with cataract referrals until we had 15 years of cuts
Then the NHS needed βsavingβ by private providers
This is Government run and influenced by the the business sector who fund politicians for financial gain
Back in 2000-2010 when NHS was properly funded there wasnβt a problem for cataract surgery & no need for the Private sector to βrescueβ the NHS
I remember referring urgently & patients seen in 2-3 weeks, standard referrals 2-3months
@rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social could learn something
Ophthalmology has taken the lead in moving NHS care to the Private sector
Here we read how some are exploiting those contracts or lack of scrutiny
This is why this move has been campaigned against by many people in the NHS
Yet @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social is keen to continue at pace
Privatre providers do not provide the difficult health care like macular holes, they do not provide emergency care when things go wrong, they do not provide training. They use their reduced costs to achieve profits to pay to share holders' dividends.
21.04.2025 15:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Tory legacy.
In England 48,830 A&E patients waited 24 hours or more for a hospital bed, 33,413 aged 65 or over.
Some went 10 days to get bed in a ward.
People deserve care and dignity.
Must expand NHS capacity. Privatisation won't. 30%-40% of money vanishes in profit, money buys less.
