Fog and low cloud has proved to be more stubborn in some areas, particularly in Midlands. Gloomy and cold 10C in Birmingham, however, a very nice sunny afternoon in London up to 17C.

Extreme #Arctic warmth areas 80N+ are on course to be +15C above normal this October.
Large areas of open ocean exceptionally far north which should be frozen on Atlantic side, closer to normal on Pacific side.

Atmospheric pressure widely very high 1034mb in London and 1036mb in south of Ireland the highest since early in spring. But a lot of cloud is trapped within the weakening ☀️ can’t erode it.

Remarkably dry outlook in capital, we have to go back to 2017 when we last experienced an appreciably dry October.

Damaging winds are now coming ashore recent gust of 93mph in Magilligan, Northern Ireland.
Pretty awful performance from Met Office UKV model.
Rain band a lot more extensive further south making for a wet commute.
