Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.

BBC board member with Tory links β€˜led charge’ in systemic bias claims, say insiders Sources say Robbie Gibb amplified criticisms of Trump, Gaza and trans rights coverage, and had β€˜a lot of oxygen in the room’

Well, this is quite a serious allegation. I do hope the BBC shows true impartiality and investigate whether or not some of its Board members are systemically biased. www.theguardian.com/media/2025/n...

During lockdown the then Chancellor Sunak told people to leave creative jobs and get business back on its feet. I decided at that moment (different than any before it) to fly my freak flag high, to put aside a lifetime's aversion to the ISB and embrace them to my heart. It's going well.

On the whole these are excellent! I've no objection to the stripping out of sax, flutes, etc, with one exception - I think We're All Water (the best track on STINYC) loses something from the absence of the railroad-chugging saxophone. But I'm sure I'll get used to it with repeated playing.

My BFI Classic on The Beatles’ film A Hard Day’s Night is available to preorder now. Here’s the story behind it. I love the cover - inspired by the film poster and a key theme in the book: the power of television in transmitting the Beatles to the world. samiraahmed.blog/why-i-wrote-...

Chelsea Morning (with The John Cameron Group) - Live on Top Gear, BBC Radio, London, England, 9/23/1968

And just a couple of months ago, I found this version of Joni Mitchell doing Chelsea Morning in session for the BBC. By now, I didn’t need to check the credits, because I knew immediately it was Danny Thompson. He lifted everything he ever played on. RIP open.spotify.com/track/72CY4C...

Danny Thompson has died. His work with Pentangle, especially his work with John Martyn...

Jazzy, fluid, honey-like, shoulder-rolling and other terms that I'm going to struggle for because I can't write about music for toffee. But anyway. He was amazing and glorious and what a legacy he's left us.
