Got a game of One Page Rules Grim Dark Firefight in tonight. Brought out some of the wolves I had painted vs a friend’s Thousand Sons. Game ended in a tie and we had a blast.

Dropped by my FLGS for a game of Spearhead. My Stormcast Eternals vs Dave’s beautifully painted Sylvaneth. Lost 15-17, but never felt steamrolled. We both had a blast and are already talking about a rematch.

Played my first game of Spearhead last week (rats vs Maggotkin) & it was a friggin BLAST! I need to play a few more games, but the rules feel much less fiddily & more streamlined than Kill Team. Looking forward to playing again soon.

I think hating your own work midway through is part of the process.

It’s just a weird part of the process.

I’m at that point of my current painting project where the minis look like crap. I start to doubt painting minis as a hobby. .

Just need to step away for a day & get some perspective.

Always, when I come back I’m like “dude, it’s not that bad… chiiiillll.” I jump back in & they turn out ok.

Honestly, it’s grown on me. I kinda dig the blue. But totally understand wanting to go darker. I just finished some dark blue dudes and it’s nice to do something brighter.

1st dude from the Space Wolves box. Wanted to test a paint scheme & I think I dig it. Although, it does kinda look like he’s in a blue jean jumpsuit. Also, I need more practice with faces and free handing the shoulder pads.

I liked it a lot actually. More than kill team. Kill team is overly complex (imo). I haven’t tried big 40K or AoS, so I can’t really compare. OPR is quick and simple. You can also add more complexity in with the advanced rules, but I haven’t tried that yet. They have a really good free army builder.

Completely agree. I’ve played a couple of games of @onepagerules.bsky.social grim dark fire fight to compare it to Kill Team. I’m pretty new so 1 KT game takes 2-3 hours (with rules questions and shooting the poop). GDFF takes 45min-1 hour (with rules questions and also shooting the poop).

Those not house.. good lord.

Trying out a new (to me) basing technique on a Fair Life cap to prep for the space wolves drop next week. I think I dig it, but I think I need to put down some PVA to get the cracked paint not to flake. Might dry brush it white to get better contrast. #warhammerhobby #warhammer

Spent some time with Ed today teaching him the basics of Killteam. We just played a “kill each other game” with the starter set. The MDF terrain is actually really solid. Next weekend I’m going to add in some additional rules and see how that goes. #warhammerhobby #killteam #warhammer

It’s been 1 year since I started Warhammering. In that time, I’ve painted 2 Spearheads, 3 Kill teams, found a good group at my FLGS & started playing Killteam. Next year - more KT, learn to play Spearhead & paint/play a combat patrol - those new Space Wolves models are groovy.
