For the rule set "Warcry," I briefly left historical wargaming and took a detour into the Games Workshop universe. Here are some of my Slaves to Darkness, painted by myself. #warcry #slavestodarkness #tabletop

2/2 The battle featured epic cavalry skirmishes in the center. After the armies had literally bled each other dry and only scattered remnants populated the battlefield, the Ostrogoths won by a very narrow margin.

1/2 In October 2024, I fought a battle between early Byzantines and Ostrogoths during the time of Justinian using my rule modification "Solo Age of Hannibal." I designed the army lists myself. Each army consisted of 1200 points and was made up of 15mm figures. #ageofhannibal #littlewarstv #wargaming

I have used my 3D printer to create an entire arsenal of siege equipment and painted them accordingly. It includes four ladder elements, two battering rams, three siege towers, and four onagers (catapults). I will be using them with the excellent "Age of Hannibal" ruleset. #ageofhannibal #wargaming

For my late medieval Frankfurt militia in 28mm for Lion Rampant, I designed the flags using Photoshop. They
are based on those depicted in the painting of the Battle of Eschborn (1389). The imperial flag, the city flag,
and some guilds (cobblers and the butchers). #lionrampant #frankfurt #wargaming

My Bronze Age, early Mycenaean DBMM army, whose main troop types are chariots and spearmen. It is almost the complete list (Book I/18). The figures were painted according to my specifications by Paintingservice Fernando. The army consists of 15mm figures by Museum Miniatures. #dbmm #15mm #wargaming

In a moment of heresy, I stepped away from historical wargaming and ventured into the realms of the Ruleset "Warcry" by Games Workshop ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here are my "Slaves to Darkness," painted by myself. #warcry #slavestodarkness #gamesworkshop

On a whim, I bought the rulebook โ€œThe Silver Bayonetโ€ and a fitting Prussian unit, which Iโ€™d inexplicably been avoiding until now. It all looks very goodโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜„ possibly my next project? ๐Ÿค” #wargaming #28mm #ospreygames

3/3 My self-designed army lists are being published in the Society of Ancients' Slingshot magazine. In the current issue, 359, Part 1 has appeared: Armies before Christ; Part 2, Armies after Christ, will be in the next Slingshot.

2/3 The Romans brought a Carroballista with them and both sides fought fiercely, but in the end, the Visigoths won quite decisively.

1/3 In August 2024, a special game of "Age of Hannibal" was played: It featured army lists from Late Antiquity that I designed, with Later Visigoths (420-720 AD) vs. Late Imperial Romans (250-500 AD). The armies consisted of 1200 points. The scale was #15mm. #ageofhannibal #littlewarstv #wargaming

4/5 The models are in approximately 1:700 scale. For size comparison, some photos include a 1 Eurocent coin.

3/5 I had the model sheets printed in high quality and on various strengths of paper. The masts are made from wire of different thicknesses, and the rigging is thin twine. The rigging makes the models look impressively realistic - although it actually turned out to be easier than I had feared ๐Ÿ˜‰

2/5 My fleet from the Napoleonic era consists of six British and six French ships each. Theyโ€™re not 3D-printed, but of paper! These are paper models by "War Artisan" Jeffrey Knudsen, who offers a whole arsenal of ships, all designed by himself, in his webshop warartisan.com/ships.

1/5 Here I am presenting my "corona project" from 2021. Like so others, I also looked for a special task during that time in order to fill the decelerated months of downtime with a project that I probably would never have started in my normal everyday life #napoleonicfleet #wargaming #navalwargaming

Played the fantastic cooperative board game "Fall of Rome" with five friends yesterday. It was already our third time, and for the third time we failed to save Rome! The coming of the Dark Ages is unstoppable ๐Ÿ˜… #fallofrome #boardgames

When painting my late medieval Frankfurt militia in 28mm for Lion Rampant (see bsky.app/profile/jens...), I strictly followed a color scheme that I designed myself. Here is the example for the Heavy Infantry. #lionrampant #frankfurt #28mm #wargaming

I originally built the fleet as a complement to my DBMM list II/33 "Polybian Romans". But as an additional ruleset, I might perhaps try "Poseidon's Warriors" by Osprey one day.

5/5 Finally, the top of the blocks is dry-brushed with silver (Army Painter Shining Silver) to highlight the slightly raised helmets.

4/5 Thin lines or strokes of skin color (Army Painter Corpse Pale) and silver (Army Painter Shining Silver) are applied to the edges. The front edge doesn't get silver but rather red dots to represent the shields (for this, I used Posca Uni paint markers).

3/5 The main color of the legionnaires is - in classic Hollywood style, of course - red (Vallejo Dark Vermilion), which is applied irregularly and thinly with a makeup brush, allowing the primed color to show through in places.

1/5 Here are some pictures of the process of painting the troops for the excellent ruleset "Strength & Honour" (by Mark Backhouse) using 2mm legions as an example. Four colors, that's all it takes to muster several legions in a single afternoon! #strengthandhonour #2mm #wargaming
