I wasn't allowed to post my latest quantum computing joke. Was told it violated the no-clowning theorem

The atomic spectral lines in this app come from the NIST atomic spectroscopy group, which has provided the world with spectroscopic measurements for 120 years.
Today we got word that the federal government is laying off the entire group. ๐ญ๐งช

This is awful! I can't believe people are still behaving this way, like what year is it?? I feel fortunate that everyone was really friendly during my entire education experience. I only ever had one very inappropriate comment from a guy at a work social event (who I then threatened to punch).

Margaret Harris reports back about LHC upgrades, antimatter advances and future colliders
I was on the @physicsworld.bsky.social podcast last week talking about my visit to CERN earlier this year. You can listen to me enthuse about it here physicsworld.com/a/exploring-... but if you're more into photos and vibes, this thread has you covered. 1/n ๐งชโ๏ธ

Photo of a beach. There are kids in kayaks in the water. It's sunny with some very high cloud.
Maybe the last nice weekend of the summer, maybe not
