I miss that I can’t enjoy a box of fish shu mai with my Hong Kong movie. Otherwise, I liked FOUR TRAILS.

Don’t let the neon and the bold saturated colors of the advertising fool you, ROAD TO VENDETTA is less a JOHN WICK wannabe than a BABY ASSASSINS knock-off (Yugo Sakamoto is credited as a script consultant). As such it’s mainly a quirky low-key comedy bookended by decent action from Koichi Sakamoto.

I’m finally adjusting back to Houston time so here’s a roundup of (most of) the physical media I purchased in Hong Kong (divided by new and used movies, soundtrack CDs, and a book on director Kuei Chih-Hung and COLOURFUL YOUTH restored on DVD from the HK Film Archive)

Yeah, I probably should’ve grabbed a couple more. I was just running through the tacky souvenir shops in Tsim Sha Tsui loading up on trinkets on my last day.

I had an excellent time, I wish I stayed longer.

Everywhere I look I’m finding new stuff, like this set of lobby cards from Shaw Brothers HONG KONG GODFATHER (1985).

Grabbed a hodgepodge of souvenirs from the shops down on Nathan Road in TST. I don’t know who’s going to get this Leslie Cheung tote bag but I hope they appreciate it.

Taking a breather from the hustle of Tsim Sha Tsui to enjoy an Irish breakfast for lunch at Delaney’s.

Before I drift off to sleep, here are some of my meager purchases from today. I know the Milkyway Image movies will get better releases in the west but I still couldn’t resist the temptation.
The nice surprise was finding a store that had the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute Blu-rays.

Enjoyed a good chunk of my birthday at the movies.

I found two CDs today, one from Chow Yun-Fat (and allegedly signed by him) and one from Anthony Wong. I’m going to let Mr. Chow sing me to sleep though, Wong’s style is a bit more aggressive.
