Deborah Friedell Β· Delete the workforce: Musk’s Twitter Takeover Trump praised Musk for being so good at firing people: β€˜You’re the greatest cutter. I mean, I look at what you do....

β€˜He didn’t ban posts that included links to newspapers, but they were often downranked so fewer people would see them (β€œfreedom of speech, not freedom of reach”, as Musk likes to say).’

To manage things for the benefit of the wealthy until the Tories sort themselves out, as it more or less always has been.

I think we can rule that out pretty much right away: a "Great British capital gains tax for Kiev" seems an unlikely move for Rachel Reeves.

Ignoring it and restating your own message would make more sense, but they can't help themselves, still somehow thinking that this time the witty expose will do the trick.

Hence "Branson shaped" rather than "Branson" himself. This model is useless if we want to build anything better.

Whatever the legal status of various parts of the network now or in the future, major investment is what will improve it & that means investment strategies aimed at creating a network like numerous other countries have managed. Kick all the profit making elements out, specially Branson shaped ones.

Might spook a few centrists but obviously the network needs to taken into state control. I've been in countries that are classed as developing nations with public transport networks that makes ours look like a cruel joke.

Though best to remember the Chinese notion that their public can change policies but not the party, whereas we can, (could), change party but not the policies.
Which is what got us here.

I have friends who've officially observed Russian elections, & lived in Moscow myself for 4 of them. They look very much like western elections, all the same trappings are there.
As in soviet times the election becomes a ritual to be observed, a show of fealty for some, just more noise to most.

Rarely taught media literacy lesson: if a news website has no advertising, no paywall and maybe just an unobtrusive "donate here" button, it is funded (to a large extent, if not exclusively) by grants from powerful institutions (governments, foundations, corporations).

Rachel Reeves is threatening yet more public spending cuts due to the increasing cost of borrowing.

But our services simply can’t take any more austerity.

The Government should tax the super-rich fairly to help fund public services and close the inequality gap.

✊ Racism is the engine of fascism; Leeds Green Party stands in solidarity, playing our part to combat it.

🚫 We refute the pathetic and derisive attempt made by Robert Jenrick to court publicity from the media and appeal to the dog-whistle mentality of the Far Right.

The government has told elderly & disabled people to wait until 2028 to hear its plan for social care.

What about those who are suffering here and now?

We don’t need a commission to know what to do: end austerity, reverse privatisation and build a National Care Service for all.
