Genealogical Digital Assets and Legacies What happens to your research after you die is up to you today.

Veering from topics on general asset management to focus on genealogy, because my daughter wants to know. What happens to all those records and documentation once the family historian no longer exists?

WTF am I even doing here. This is one of those places, like grade school, where I became my worst autistic self. At least now I know I'm autistic. Bless that child who didn't.

I just changed my party affiliation online a few minutes ago after reading what several democrats said about Al Green. I'm no longer a Democrat. And, no, I did not go to the Pugs. Are you kidding me?

Here’s a little cartoon drawing I did of David Graeber, pen and ink on paper.
It’s is a drawing of him speaking in 2014 at he Occupy the London Stock Exchange meeting in London. In the drawing he is speaking and saying: β€œOne of the great points Marx made in Capital, and I think one of the things that stands up about the book is that the motivations of the capitalists don’t actually matter. There’s a certain dynamic in the system as a whole which means you could be the nicest person in the world you could have the best intentions possible, you could love your workers more than yourself. It doesn’t matter. You’re in a competitive marketplace, structured in a certain way, there are constraints. There’s no reason to imagine those constraints go away if everyone means well.”
β€œOne of the most compelling documents I’ve ever seen was during the Bush administration a group of CEOs wrote a letter to the president actually…they were mainly people at energy companies, essentially saying β€˜we need greater government control on energy production to contain global warming’…and these are the guys who are the heads of energy companies basically saying β€˜stop us before we kill again, we don’t want to destroy the world but we are compelled by the structure of our position, we’re answerable only to our stockholders, we have to make the maximum amount of profit possible for them regardless of our personal feelings, um, we don’t like the results, create laws to stop us from doing this’…and I think that brings home very clearly what some of the structural contradictions are. Currently the corporate structure is one created in many ways to stop people from acting ethically even if they want to.”
Like I said, pen and ink on paper. I miss you David Graeber.

A federal judge in Maryland issued a temporary restraining order on Monday, blocking members of Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency team and anyone β€œworking on the DOGE agenda at the Department of Education” from accessing sensitive data until March 10.

I was diagnosed with my very first concussion this past Friday. Ny bones are more solid than everyone thought, obviously. Still smell/taste metal sometimes, but there's no brain bleed, no damage to the spine. Shoveled the sidewalk yestrday, so there.

So much for yoga this past week. The flu is making the rounds along with strep. Obviously, it doesn't matter if you've had the flu shot, as many of the folks I know (myself included) had the shot and we still got the bug. Fighting a 103Β° fever might be a yogi thing...is it?

I started with 15 minutes of yoga this morning, and it felt comfortable, but I'm feeling it in my calves. It was also very amusing as my toddler grandson sat underneath me as I was downward dog, and pummeled my back when I was in child's pose. That actually felt good.

I was studying to be a yoga instructor when my father died in 2020, interrupted my plans. Then, brain surgery in 2022. Then, my knees acted up. If it ain't one thing, it's another...but my knees are feeling solid now, and I'm going to start again with beginner lessons. I'm cautious, but hopeful!

Move Fast and Break the Government A blizzard of regulations; a power grab over federal funds; and the hollowing out of our nation’s public workforce. It’s just week two.

"We haven’t really touched on the DeepSeek AI news, partially because, like everyone else, we’re still working through exactly what it means. But looking at the state of our country right now, it seems our problem isn’t new strides in artificial intelligence but a dearth of organic intelligence."
