Does anyone else think, whilst it may be medical, the choice of Biden worn Aviators is saying something...

Groundwater and hydrogeological specialist. Lapsed pure geologist but still love boring friends with rock nonsense when walking out in the hills. www.jhgroundwater.co.uk

14.01.2026 13:34 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hi - looks like a fun event. Can I make a serious point though. Entering a trial pit deeper than 1.2m with no shoring is very dangerous and people have been killed doing so (with corporate manslaughter charges following). This picture appears to show someone doing just that.

25.11.2025 13:54 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Coming back through Bamako airport in Mali with a small bag of gravel pack (round stones used in borehole construction) when the soldier at the last of numerous check points pulled it and asked "ques que se?". I couldn't really answer so he helped himself to something from my bag and waved me on!

14.10.2025 21:47 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Its nowhere near as bad as they say Tony - there aren't many main routes with a 20 on it. Here in Abergavenny its much easier to get about or cross the road. I was sceptical but fully support it. Ironically I got a speeding fine for doing 23 in 20. In London. In Wales it needs to be over 26mph!

Nice. I think we will try that.
25.08.2025 08:53 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Very interesting to see groundwater levels in the East Anglian Chalk holding up relatively well so far. Groundwater is a key factor in drought resilience. Building new reservoirs is not necessarily the magic bullet which solves our water shortage issues.

27.03.2025 15:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Surely the main point of #localauthorities consulting expert #statutoryconsultees is to establish if there are issues with a #planning application. I know the system is clunky but potentially cutting consultees out of the system risks missing issues. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/67d1b2...
