El Paso family claims Border Patrol killed their dog during search, CBP reviewing incident
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says they are reviewing a "use of force incident" in El Paso, after a family says a Border Patrol agent unjustifiably shot...
The family says they came to the wrong house on a "tip", demanded to see ID, shot the dog for whatever reason, and bolted, leaving the family as they struggled to save their dogs life. This is inexcusable, but their boss is a known dog murderer. A fish rots from the head.

Does anyone know anything about what is going on at NIDCD?Council met almost a month ago and I have a top scored grant just waiting to be funded. The whole institute has only issued 6 NOAs since then. I have no information about my grant.

1) is nihilism. How could we ever know anything? And 2) we have plenty of examples of manipulating representations in ways that seem as though they would satisfy your objection. This sounds strange to us, because these issues aren't really up for debate among neuroscientists.

1) the fact that there is inference in most biological data, so it is filtered through our instruments and we can never really observe most things and 2) your contention that you canβt manipulate a neural representation with external forces.

Please correct me if I am misreading, but it sounds like you are making a legalistic argument about whether you are ontologically committed to the existence of representations based on:

I canβt believe Iβm actually saying this, because I hate the terminology, but you should really have a look at the hippocampal βengramβ work by Steve Ramirez and others. Checks all of T & Pβs criteria in one stroke. More thoughts after I finish reading your paper.

"Who are you going to believe? Me or your lying instruments?" Also, when the vanguard of your repertoire of scientific examples is somatotopy and delay period activity in working memory tasks, maybe try reading some neuroscience from the past 40 years.

If you call yourself a scientist but willingly admit to being unable to evaluate a preprint (something I teach my undergrads to do) then you need to stop calling yourself a scientist.

I think it helps to set some artificial limits for yourself e.g. "no hip hop," or "must be a widely recognizable sample." Some way to cut down the space of possibilities. An interesting alternative category would be songs that are best known as the sample source for a much more well known song.
