Used to be a faceless bureaucrat. Still faceless, but no longer a bureaucrat.
Taking resources from struggling Brits. Lodged in 3* hotels, access to NHS doctors and dentists when people can't get appointments etc.

15.11.2025 19:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Loans are for MS. Third countries get business and associated jobs.
12.11.2025 12:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Defence is the responsibility of MS but the money is the EU and that's what the UK is interested in.
11.11.2025 20:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As you are familiar with EU negotiations you will know that EU always starts on a mandate agreed by all MS. Any changes have to go back to MS for approval and that's when the internal haggling and delay takes place. Want it quick? Take what's on offer. Swallow it whole, as was once said.
11.11.2025 17:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Autocorrect!! Grande marΓ©e.
09.11.2025 10:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A grande market in Saint Malo is awesome. And unforgettable experience.
09.11.2025 09:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Mint leaves! Heresy. Should be Thai basil and Vietnamese ngΓ² gai (sawtooth herb).
07.11.2025 23:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Do you put the meat in cold water and bring to the boil (better bouillon) or in boiling water (tastier meat)? And don't forget the gros sel.
07.11.2025 23:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0But outside the EU budget.

EU seems to be using the EEA Agreement as model for negotiation. They usually start from existing texts so they don't have to reinvent the wheel every time. EFTA countries pay into the EEA Financial Mechanism (Protocol 38 of the Agreement) which is closely linked to the Cohesion Funds

They pay into the EEA Financial Mechanism which is closely linked to the Cohesion Funds but outside the EU budget (Protocol 38 of the EEA agreement).
07.11.2025 23:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0EEA countries do contribute through the EEA Financial Mechanism which is closely linked to Cohesion Funds but not operated via the EU budget. See Protocol 38 of the EEA agreement and its various updates. So the FT is partly right although technically wrong (these technicalities do matter).
07.11.2025 20:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Β£3.25 on French Click I just looked to see if they are available in the UK.
25.10.2025 17:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Try the ones from Unearthed, they are nicer than the M&S ones (not as chewy).
25.10.2025 14:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In her bitter, twisted world she wouldn't even have been born if her grandfather hasn't found sanctuary in Britain.
23.10.2025 19:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Now that's silly because income from foreign sources is technically an export which boosts the country's balance of payments.
22.10.2025 13:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Mine was the museum burglary in WΓ llace and Gromit!
21.10.2025 11:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Nobel Prace committee should dangle the Prize as a carrot. If they give it to him he'll lose interest.
10.10.2025 14:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Israel was comparatively easy, he has a lot of leverage with Netanyahu. Now get peace in Ukraine and he'll be a hero. And we don't know if the Middle East deal will endure so too early to nominate. Maybe for the 2027 awards.
10.10.2025 14:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So he has 3 months to sort out Russia and Ukraine. If he achieves that then definitely will be nominated next January.

06.10.2025 14:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The EU institutions have the so-called "12emes provisoires" which allows them to spend 1/12th of the previous year's budget every month until the new budget is decided. Priority spending is salaries.

01.10.2025 14:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Before 2020 was pre-Brexit. Yes it was a Brexit decision by UKG.
30.09.2025 13:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Think it's a case of reciprocity. Brits don't have ID cards so Europeans can't use theirs.

30.09.2025 11:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In the minds of people who say that, they ARE mutually exclusive.
29.09.2025 15:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The usual answer is "train our own!", "pay higher wages!","buy British!". No need for immigrants...
