I tried to understand what is all about but failed miserable. From the outside seems like it just overcomplicates things. Houdini in comparison feels easier to work with in context of nodes. I guess UX is just better there or maybe I need some time with new geo nodes. 🫤

This is interesting. Lots of interesting insights. Curious to see how Nostr protocol evolve.

Love the recipes functionality SideFX introduced in Houdini 20.5. It proved to be very useful. You don't need to rely on HDAs for some additional functionality anymore or legacy presets system. It's way easier now to extend existing nodes with recipes. Such a time saver!

Sometimes you need the very granular control in post but if you instance your geo in Houdini there is no way to pick individual pieces with cryptomatte. Unless you make a custom setup. Here is a short tip how to do it in Karma.

You're correct. I hope the bridge will happen rather sooner than later. Bsky CEO is against protocol segmentation for fediverse. I personally prefer Bsky and its protocol and features. Don't have mental capacity to track activity on yet another platform.

Isn't Bsky also a part of the fediverse?

Making a "sweet" logos generator while learning some procedural modelling techniques in Houdini.

Learned the smart way to optimize the simulation of cloth and then cast the high res mesh to low res sim with Point Deform node. Especially useful when you want your mesh to be quads but simulated triangulated mesh.

Made a small HDA in Houdini to place points on a curve at precise positions. Something I needed in other projects. Only lacking some viewport functionally for now to easily manipulate points.

Degoogle your phone and use open source apps where possible. Use Obtanium to manage the apps. It's way better this way.

@notion.com This is very worrying. I'm a Notion customer for years now. I always worried Notion doesn't provide full control over my data and I have to trust Notion to keep it secure and private. I think it's time to look for a backup plan.

Too much AI. Not enough security or privacy features. No offline mode.

The lack of the proper desktop app is the only thing that holds me back from using Penpot exclusively. Everything else is there. Can't wait for this to land.

Daaamn! The new variables functionality in Nuke is fantastic. I was surprised something like this wasn't there before and you had to duplicate everything in your scripts. Now you can work super lean, like in Houdini's Solaris with clear scripts. Can't go back to not having this feature.

While very powerful, Nuke has one of the craziest UI. This small black triangle on a dark background of the file browser menu hides super useful preview functionality. I've never even seen this triangle before it was pointed out to me. Icons in Nuke are just terrible.
