Update on "The Niche".. a small room I'm turning into a moody writing lair.. I put a wallpaper mural on the ceiling.. and no I don't finish one project before starting another one.

A picture of a fireplace mantel I wanted but had to wait too long to get and really couldn't afford. So I used it as inspiration to build it myself.

Progress of duplicating the inspiration and testing the wood on how it takes stain, and trying to decide on the color

Stain applied to the mantel I built letting it set to determine how much darker I need to go. Then, next step is putting on a clear coat and figuring out what stone or tile works around the gas fire insert

I have a small sitting room off my bedroom I have wanted to make into a writing niche for a long time... Decided to start. It's going to be dark and moody and yes I'm wallpapering the ceiling with a starry night mural.

Funny story - went to adopt one kitty.They were like "oh wait he has a brother!" Fine. The next lady comes walking through all chippy and goes "don't forget the sister!" So $600 later - Ohana for the win.

Long Day that has turned into a short night left for sleep. Work is stressful to the point of simply dreading flipping on the machine.

This too shall pass. I'm just itchy and restless while I wait on something I don't know for what I'm waiting on.

It's an incredibly chaotic environment - sadness, anger, betrayal and bewilderment all rolled into one.... what's been amazing is the resiliency to push through the noise. There's a steadfast determination to overcome and come together - that's been the beautiful part of this.

This is infuriating... gut wrenching and indicative of a much darker plan. The Veteran community is simmering: albeit, boiling over might just do the trick in mitigating this hot mess of a shit show.

Interestingly enough, a friend got me a cool gadget that hooks onto my glasses that I really like but makes my glasses slide down.
