This is a crappy plan for the city but it'll make some people some money, so, par for the course for Ottawa. Disappointed but not surprised.

I think we need to stop calling it empathy and go back to calling it decency. It isn't a favour you're doing someone else, it's you proving that you aren't a fucking ghoul

Second-biggest line item in the budget.

Largely ignored this week because it was old news.

It's a small graphic design detail, but the loitering guy on TTC signage is actually in front of the red slash, casually leaning against it, making him look *unbelievably* cool.

I used to be in favour of the Lansdowne 2.0. I've changed my mind I used to be in favour of the Lansdowne 2.0 development. I changed my mind because I donโ€™t trust this deal. | Opinion

Residents and people who followed the story and read the reports are turning on Lansdowne 2.0. The more you know, the more itโ€™s no. ottawacitizen.com/news/local-n...

Think about how often you've heard not to click links in emails unless you're certain you can trust the source.

This is shaping up to be big. A mass movement of people telling City Hall ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

To stop throwing away our money. Stop endangering the Charge.

WE NEED YOU to show up so Councillors think long and hard, and understand the consequences, before voting for Lansdowne.

Friday 8:30am.

Is the city keeping the infra in place? Mainly in case of policy reversal, but also does it make sense to send non-fine notices of infraction?

Artist fears Lansdowne installation may become '$2 million of scrap metal' The final Lansdowne 2.0 report recommends decommissioning the art installation Moving Surfaces because there's no budget to restore it.

The contempt the city has shown for this expensive and genuinely impressive piece of art it bought and proudly installed is just perfectly symbolic of how it treats both the public realm and its own investments.

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.

This is one case where being a boring economist helps.

Forget the list: *Donate money*

Food banks can turn it into food more efficiently than you can and also know what's needed better than even this list.

This is a metaphor that applies more broadly, too: pandering to a tiny minority of conspiracy-curious Albertans makes life objectively (and needlessly) worse for the rest of us.

Remember that. #abpoli

I dont know how, but i missed the early/late indication in the top the first time. Sorry.
I think any of the new options work. The heavier bold on X (like the original & bottom left) is better i think. If you can remove it from Y only, that would be good but otherwise bot left is best of these imho.

Looks good, explanation makes sense but is not intuitive. In addition can you add in small font "early" or "late" right justified next to the time at the bottom?
& either way, I suggest no bold and maybe additing italic to the Y (incl sign) because it's less important than X. & smaller font too?

UN pushes for worldwide disaster alerts as extreme weather โ€˜spiralsโ€™ Climate-related hazards have killed more than 2 million people in 50 years, said the UN meteorological agency.

Kinda wild that VSPs in the US decided -- as one, like a school of fish -- that climate is not a big deal any more and not worth talking about, even as, out there in reality, climate is getting worse faster than anyone anticipated.
