I think agree on the outcome we want and mostly how to get there. I join threads like these to try and encourage nuanced thinking and discussion. As it stands cops just have way too much responsibility and no where near enough oversite and training. Scale it back and expand social work 💯

The problem really lies in the institution enabling bad actors, and saying stuff like cops are traitors to workers is unproductive. There are cops that want reform too. I'm questioning whether or not the replies to me are coming from people who want positive change

I think the role/training/oversight of cops needs to be seriously considered. Law enforcement is here to stay, and it's going to be far easier to enact change if actors on the inside are receptive/involved. Policy needs to be driven by the common good, and they are a part of that common good.

You just said cops aren't a part of the working class because of what they earn - now you're claiming it's because their work doesn't produce value? All workers are tools to an extent to prop this system up regardless of what they produce because the primary beneficiaries of all our work is owners.

I could see the utility in jarring people out of their comfort zone, but I see greater utility in encouraging free/critical thinking and nuanced opinions based on research. I think ideology creates that dissonance you refer to, and so I promote thinking outside an idealogical frame.
