He fucking orchestrated this, by getting 8 politicians not up for reelection to vote for this and acting like he and none of the other people facing elections have anything to do with it.

They are all fucking complicit.

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.

From the DNC Chair to Chuck Schumer to Hakeem Jeffries to Democratic governors, the vast majority of Dem politicians strongly oppose this deal. This is a small group of cowards who betrayed their party and tens of millions of Americans who are about to lose their health care.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.

I've looked at all the details of this deal to end the shutdown reached by a small group of Senate Democrats. I've talked to a number of friends on the Hill to see if there's anything I'm missing. Sadly, I am not.

This is a shit deal. It's a betrayal. It's cowardice.

No. People will die without the ACA extension. End stop. It is absolutely worth "digging in" if it means fighting for health care for millions.

If they give up on those ACA subsidies, they aren't ever going to get them back

UPDATE: Donald Trump is so hellbent on denying people SNAP that he went all the way to the Supreme Court to block benefits.

Now Trump is trying to bully states into TAKING BACK payments they already made to families.

It’s chaos for the sake of cruelty.

REMINDER: President Biden NEVER cut SNAP payments, never even had a government shutdown.

In fact, he cut child poverty in half.
He cut child hunger, too.
