Why do we have billionaires? The dominant ethos in our world today, the Western ethos of individualistic ambition, is a relatively young one. Comparatively, societies that have been around much longer tend to become more collectivistic, likely having learned the lessons of unchecked inequities.

Fascism is to society what pimples are to humans: a painful, inflamed response to underlying dysfunction, pregnant with potent pus, exploding violently, before eventually collapsing, leaving in its wake craters and scars.

A peaceful end to this increasing polarization is unfortunately not in sight.

Bluesky is buzzin'. Twitter dropping. Mass net migration happening as we speak. At one level, it looks like an increased splintering of society, but really, it's more like someone has been shitting on the floor of a house party, forcing any reasonable person to understandably want to evacuate.

Stephen King, master of the horror novel, just quit Twitter because it'd become too "dark."

That's how horrifying Twitter is right now.

There may never be a more perfect expression of this fact.
