What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday by presenting at the opening session of the UCF Math Circle with my friend @Sabrina Robinson. We had 60 Ss spanning from 6th grade to pre-calc, discussing slow reveal graphs, misleading graphs, and writing a graph story. My math nerd heart is very happy.

I just wanted the students to explore the patterns - some had never seen or heard of a cardioid before. They really enjoyed the process and sharing what they came up with their peers!

Love this! We just explored cardioid circles in Math Art Club - I am going to share your video next session. Thank you!

I am truly honored to have been recognized alongside my NSF Noyce-UCF Fellows and our amazing Professors at last night's Board Meeting. Thank you Orange County Public Schools for this recognition! #ocpsnews

I agree! Vertical alignment is critically important. I led a session at FCTM and SREB where we engaged in VA conversations and it was so illuminating!

We have been exploring Coordinate Plane Art in the Pi-Casso Art Club! Ss recreated pictures on graphs, then wrote the coordinates for another student to replicate. Next Club, Ss will exchange coordinates to replicate the art of other students. It’s been so fun to watch students blend math and art!

I need help coming up with a name for my Math Art Club!

So far I have only come up with the Pi-casso Club but have challenged the students to come up with options too. We are going to vote after break. Share your ideas with me!!

The students loved it! One of my students has been playing in Desmos with graphs and showed me how he created a flower with different functions today. I told him I should put in for the Desmos Art comp!

I agree! At first I thought the yellow part of the diagram was supposed to represent the 10% shorter.

In a recent Math Art Club session, we explored coordinate plane art and discussed the math involved in the recreation of the Great Wave off Kanagawa using Desmos (www.desmos.com/calculator/s... ). Next, we will create our own art. Can’t wait to see what the students come up with!
