Phadnavis and Mumbai police jumping to “investigate” “remarks” made on some YT show is coz they want to control it. Then they can use it as a platform to spread their shitty political party propaganda.
I will honestly be shocked if Phadnavis doesn’t show up as a judge in the next few episodes.

So when they say “will you give us a byte”, I say, “I’ll do it if you pay me.” And then we both burst out laughing. Pretty much EVERYONE involved in hyping/covering this story knows that it makes no sense.
But hey, outrage sells, and everyone’s just making a living.

I’ve had multiple phone calls from news channels to “comment” on the latest clusterfuck “in the name of comedy.”
Some of the journos calling are people I am acquaintances with, and I feel horrible avoiding their calls. So I answer.

It’s one of insanest jobs in media, and I swear I never wanna do it- I just want to work with the ones that love doing it.

And now that I’ve let go of the harrowing anxiety around it, and learned to trust them, I am realising what brilliant editors I get to work with. (I know, I know, but hey, better late than never).
The combination of technical know-how & innate story telling required to be an editor is staggering.

My over-controlling ass has always wanted to leave as little as possible to the editor- either not trusting their vision, or being overly insistent on my own.
But I’ve somehow always ended up working with EXCELLENT editors, who have given me no reason to worry.

As a writer and performer, I am in love with my video editors.
The truth is that you write a piece 3 times.
1. Scripting
2. Performing
And the third time- it’s while editing.
As someone who is competent at the first two, I have always struggled with video editing.

Teaching kids about stand-up comedy, is actually teaching them about power. In India, we have a VERY skewed understanding of power- who has it, who doesn’t, when to wield it, when to give it up.
Because the power we come from defines that jokes we make, the jokes that land and the ones that don’t.
