It’s kinda amazing how little these people do with their lives. And before you suggest I’m doing the same, I’d say criticizing and fighting fascism in any form beats spending your non-golfing days repeatedly typing “Durben should resign. He loves illegals! [Flag emoji].”

Gotta remember that whenever I support Dick Durbin on his page, one of the several trolls that apparently spend their retirements heckling him will share his MAGA opinion and immediately declare victory. I mean, I don’t CARE, but it’s like finding an ant crawling on me.

My boss: so how's our fourth quarter looking?
Me, the sales manager at the company that makes inflatable frog suits: well, you're never going to believe this, but

Bluesky still freaking out over the hooters in "Liberty Leading the People." Or maybe it doesn't like Phrygian hats.

A civil war, needs two (or more) factions trying to kill each other. This is an authoritarian power grab. I usually don't worry about fine points, but "civil war" suggests both sides are involved in a violent conflict. We aren't. For now. Don't power their fantasies.

God I love how much it sucks to own a tesla. Truly a parade of misery. Maybe your vehicle will burst into superhot flames that melt your door locks. Maybe your entire system will shut down while you're on the highway. Maybe youre car will become an ad for a dumb movie starring a weird sex pest.

"Look! We won, so we get to turn this country into a theocratic fascist hellscape! If the Democrats had won they would've done the exact same thing except opposite!"
They know the sight of all those protestors will look bad. Also, they will never get to dine out again.

WHY did I write "winding out"? Grandpa's old, kids. Winding DOWN, of course.

Suggestion: Wear a shirt that says "FENTANYL" to a protest. ICE and other enforcers will read it, mistake you for the opioid, and run away in fear, lest the mere sight of you causes them to turn into catatonic addicts.

I appreciate short horror stories and films, but too often they're a lazy way to deliver instant gratification. You can't really do it with other genres. Comedy, maybe, but I can't picture what instant romance or instant adventure would look like. You need build up for those.

By contrast, JB Pritzker told me that people should flood the No Kings protests precisely in order to let the American people know that something is deeply amiss.
More Dems should be doing this, to send the message widely that we are in real trouble right now.

Mostly it's designed to make you anxious and defensive, especially during reviews. The high point is when you say what you do and how hard you work, and they say, "Mmmm... I don't think so."

This is a "interview for your own job" technique. Every boss I ever had that asked for this never really bothered to read what I wrote. Of course, Bari will have an assistant feed all the write-ups into "AI," which will provide bullet points she can reference during their meeting.

Banned Books Week: Writers Recall the "Forbidden" Books of Their Youth | Third Coast Review
It’s Banned Books Week, and while it’s not a week to celebrate, per se, it’s one to faithfully observe.
Banned books Week is winding out but never truly ends. If you didn't catch this collection of writers I asked for their memories of reading banned books in their youth, here it is. Worth a read.

Liz would vociferously oppose the festival until Jack suggested it would be good for her career. But she'd be conflicted and fuck it all up.
