Heck, pay people to install solar if that's what it takes...
There was essentially zero coverage of the disabled protest to stop Medicaid cuts. Capitol police dragged protesters out, many in wheelchairs, and arrested 34 people. It was barely a blip on the news because nobody really cares about the disabled.

13.06.2025 20:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fair, yes I admittedly glossed over the "if violence breaks out" part, but I haven't actually seen or heard anyone advocating that specific point so I considered it a bit of a straw man.
As a pre-emptive plan, showing large numbers of protesters who are unmistakably passive can be quite powerful.
I get your point (BTW my point still stands, there were 3 dozen students who split $1 million).
But imagery and messaging is everything in this media environment. The burning cars in LA are running 24/7 on Fox News.
There's no way to spin that photo above. It says everything.
LOL that I got blocked for this. Please stay safe out there everyone.
Just saying that this is one of the most iconic protest images of the 21st century. Not the example I'd use to argue that sitting at a protest is ineffective.
In the current media environment it's so easy for bad actors to edit footage or mischaracterize what happens at a protest.
Car set on fire in LA? 24 hour looping footage on Fox News.
Passive protesters sitting down with their hands behind their back getting pepper sprayed in the face? Not so much.
Fine. My point still stands. This is not the image I would choose to make a case that sitting down at a protest is ineffective.
Unsafe? Yeah that's a better argument. But this image has been a global meme for the past decade, illustrating the level of police brutality in the United States.
Yep. We're saying the same thing. He got more than any individual student because there were three dozen of them. Collectively they won $1 million.

I'd say it ended up being an extremely effective way to protest! There's no way to spin that image into "but they deserved it."
