I felt the exact same way. I like difficult games, but Silksong is just punishing. Finishing it would take me too many hours and I have better stuff to do with that time.

So many interesting takes from @orbitaldropkick.bsky.social… I wish this interview was like 5h long. Having read ICON, you can really see a tactical game can boiled down to a lean system. And I agree: Daggerheart is what most people want from D&D! I wouldn’t run Draw Steel for my casual RPG friends.

Highly recommend reading this article that details a few benefits of having those later levels. I still think it's "bad" to have them, but I doubt D&D will ever stop at level 10.
