Patients transferred to England following safety review at Scottish hospital Adults who were born with a heart condition are being transferred to England for surgery following a safety review of the dedicated Scottish centre.

This is such a worry for those of us with congenital heart conditions and our families in Scotland 🥲 both children and adults in Scotland are currently being sent to England for heart surgeries.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing? 2? Questions I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up. Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

It took 11 years of campaigning to get these standards after submitting a petition to the SG back in 2012! It’s been a very hard slog.

Sounds really interesting. Healthcare change is a very big mountain to climb to more of us pushing for it the better. I’m hugely passionate about this because of my personal experiences.

And as a child suppression of a normal response to pain and distress is often encouraged with bravery stickers and narratives around being a ‘warrior’.

Current healthcare practice exacerbates mental health risk factors. There are many challenges with living with a LTC but so much more we could be doing to support wellbeing.

Yes! Psychologically informed care is vital to promote established protective factors and mitigate risk factors to prevent the development of medical trauma & difficulties. This is the whole premise of this book ❤️

Agree, it’s a big challenge but as someone who has lived with a heart condition from birth we need change. Status quo isn’t cost efficient either.
