If you are interested in what might happen to the neural responses during the same task in a sample of people with chronic hand-based pain, then even though this study was conducted after the one in the first post, that paper is already out (...because publishing):

Right, so I was asked to take a look at this headline and as you can imagine, there is a lot wrong with it! πŸ™„

Is interoceptive sensing unified across internal organs? πŸ«€πŸ« Our high-powered psychophysical study (N=241) suggests not. Bayesian evidence indicates interoceptive processes are largely modality-specificβ€”challenging the idea of a unitary interoceptive sense.

Please do read the paper for more detail about these recommendations!

All recommendations are based on qualitative and quantitative data from participants with chronic pain conditions living in the UK when asked about barriers and facilitators to non-pharmaceutical research engagement.

We have created a little infographic showing 13 recommendations from our recent paper (doi.org/10.1136/bmjo...) about ways to improve the participant's experience when taking part in chronic pain research!

It is often not possible to include all recommendations, but several are easily implemented!

Delighted our research on resizing illusions as non-pharmaceutical pain relief is now available! We explored how illusions modulate pain perception, using EEG. Open access with data available too, because research should be accessible to everyone.

Our new paper is out in @plosone.org!

We looked at what happens in the brain when people with chronic hand-based pain experience resizing illusions.

No evidence of SSEP changes were found, but several participants experienced clinically meaningful (>30%) pain reductions!

A great paper discussing the impact that a lack of diversity has for research and the importance of responsible generalisation practices.

Open science has come quite far, but the issues mentioned here need addressing, alongside understanding how open science can impact under-represented groups.
