Best way to view Venice is to go where the tourists aren't. I found so many great canals and homes that way. Plus the local restaurants were amazing.

Worth seeing at least once. I strongly suggest a private tour with a knowledgable tour guide. Amazing stuff to be learned there.

Don't neglect the Peloponesian peninsula - TONS of historical sites there. I used Nafplio as a base for that - stay in the old part of town and be ready to park your car outside of town.
