It's cool that seismic changes in human civilization are being decided without consent by some of the dumbest f*ckers in history.

His point is existential, not psychological. Ultimate concern is dynamic, like the Platonic Eros. We are always “ultimately concerning,” always being drawn toward the depth of being and to greater wholeness. He calls this ecstasy, the self reaching toward the Ground.

One reason Tillich’s idea of ultimate concern is often misunderstood is that it’s treated as a hyperfixation. Whatever you’re obsessed with is God for you. But it’s not just what you’re concerned with, it’s how you are concerned, in terms of the total centered self.

I guess I prefer something more traditional. It has a very utilitarian and commercial feel to me.
