A few comments on our recent paper:
1- The high end is based on the SSP585 scenario which was the only one available until 2300 in CMIP6, but according to the reduced-complexity models used in IPCC-AR6, the SSP370 scenario should also cross the limit beyond which most ice shelves become non-viable.

Simply beautiful photos of climate scientists in action. And really well explained - worth a read.

Geoengineering is not going to save the poles from climate change A review of the five main methods proposed for cooling down the poles or slowing the loss of ice concludes they are all wildly impractical, wouldn't work, or both

Comic. [Two people on shore looking at body of water] PERSON 1: Hey, where’s that big island we were looking at this morning? PERSON 2 with short hair: Oh, it’s underwater. The ocean’s depth here goes up and down by like ten feet every day. PERSON 1: What? PERSON 2: It’s because the planet has a big moon orbiting near the surface. It causes weird gravity effects. PERSON 1: *What???* [caption] People here are used to them, but tides are one of the weirdest and most sci-fi elements of life on Earth.

I hear folks bemoan climate inaction relative to ozone depletion. But I think the better analogy is the battle with Big Tobacco and skirmishes over teaching evolution. The lobbyist and dark money groups learned from those battles and have been furiously applying them to fight climate action.

Back to the Future (1985) ⭐ 8.5 | Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi 1h 56m | PG

I talk to a lot of communities about climate change planning. Climate scientists and especially glaciologists talk a lot what will happen in 2100 and beyond. But the time scales that I have found most relevant are what I like to the β€œBack to the Future” and β€œWonder Years” time scales. Why? 1/

Fossil fuels generate less than half of US electricity for first month ever, says energy think tank Fossil fuels accounted for less than 50% of the U.S. power mix for the first month on record in March, according to energy think tank Ember on Friday, driven by a near-quarter rise in wind and solar power generation.

Some good news. Let’s accelerate this!
