And let's understand the real-world effect of his theory in this fraught political moment: Congress taking a sledgehammer to bedrock environmental safeguards w/the conceit that if we free capital to build everything anywhere all at once it'll somehow work out for the public.
It won't.

Political cartoon styled as the Trojan Horse story. A large wooden horse labeled 'ABUNDANCE' sits outside the gates of a city labeled 'YIMBY'. Inside the horse, text reads 'DONALD TRUMP'S LARGEST DONORS AND A BUNCH OF INTERNET NAZIS'. A small figure labeled 'EZRA KLEIN' stands near the horse, gesturing toward the city gates where two guards are visible. The image appears to be commentary on YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard) housing policy movements.

Newsom seeks to short-cut process to build $20-billion Delta water tunnel
Gov. Gavin Newsom is seeking to short-cut permitting of a proposed $20-billion water tunnel project. Environmental groups condemn the plan as an attempt to bypass necessary procedures.

Three bills out of committee today - AB 1378, which allows the department of social services to partner with tribes to provide preventative services, and AB 928, which cracks down on gamefowl breeding for the purpose of cockfighting, both passed out of committees on bipartisan votes.

Editorial: For California towns with a bear problem, using dogs to hunt is no solution
Hounding bears won't prevent dangerous encounters with humans. But bear-proofing your property will help.
Better human behavior is key to keeping bears and people safe; not recreational hound hunting, says @latimes.com today in editorial.
#caleg should reject #AB1038 swiftly.

California is considering letting hunting dogs attack bears
A bill proposed by Calif. Assemblymember Heather Hadwick seeks to make it legal for hunters to sic trained hounds on bears, sparking outrage.
Hey Cali? I know we're mad at Newsom right now, but can you please turn your attention to AB1038, which would legalize using packs of hunting dogs with GPS collars to chase bears in the wild? This article explains the issue very well. TLDR: hazing bears in the wild = worse for bears and humans.

For California towns with bear problems, using dogs to hunt is noΒ fix
Californiaβs black bears are clever, resourceful and opportunistic. They eat anything and everything β fruits, nuts, insects, human food and pet food. They love bird feeders. They poach mountain lion kills β such as deer β that they find. Itβs called kleptoparasitism. They can use their bottom teeth to work open an unlocked car door. If they find a way into your house and kitchen, they can open jars of peanut butter and jam and, of course, honey.

We introduced our first bill today! In partnership with the Karuk and Yurok tribes, as well as the California Coastkeeper Alliance, AB 263 will maintain river flows for at-risk salmon runs on two critical Klamath River tributaries β the Scott and Shasta Rivers.
