Remember in 2020-2021, when as a society, we collectively eliminated a strain of influenza (B/Yamagata) due to multilayered protections widely implemented for COVID? So much so that it was removed from the annual flu vaccine? Good times. 😷

Flu levels now highest since 2009 pandemic, CDC reports
The CDC says respiratory illness is now "very high" nationwide.
“Levels of influenza nationwide are now at the highest they have been since the peak of the 2009 swine flu pandemic, according to figures published Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, amid this winter's second wave of the virus.”

Tamiflu acquired. I don't even remember
the last time I had influenza. Maybe Swine Flu 2009? Little man has never had flu before. Layers of protection work, but at this point, individuals (and especially those made most vulnerable by society) have been *completely* abandoned.

Little man picked up something terrible from school again. We are both very sick and tests are negative. Is our future just
endless sickness?
Erin C. Sanders, MSN, WHNP-BC (... • 12m I was curious, so I double checked my old records and turns out last time I had Flu A was 5 years ago to the day, January 20, 2020. This was shortly after my debilitating illness in November 2019. Weird.

"The pandemic taught me that there is no amount of evidence or different arrangement of words or facts that people will hear when they simply refuse to hear the message. Whether grounded in fear or fantasy, it’s easier for the messenger to then become the problem, not the facts.
Because ultimately, the messenger is much easier to get rid of.
So to my truth tellers, to those who refuse to ignore the many threats to our existence that are predominantly human made and accelerated — I see you. And I’m grateful for you. The world needs more of us. Rest if you need to. Our fight is far from over. "
