In a statement confirming the deliberate killing of al-Sharif, Israelβs military accused the journalist of heading a Hamas cell and βadvancing rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and [Israeli] troopsβ. It also alleged that it had documents providing βunequivocal proofβ of his involvement with the Palestinian group.
Muhammed Shehada, an analyst at the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, said there was βzero evidenceβ that al-Sharif took part in any hostilities. βHis entire daily routine was standing in front of a camera from morning to evening,β he told Al Jazeera.
For any wavering supporters of Israel, there have been off-ramps to take to avoid being (staying) on the side of a genocide basically every day. Hereβs another, killing an entire team of journalists and claiming they were terrorists.

When a right wing person says βfreedomβ, what they really mean is:
a) freedom to do bad things without intervention from the state (including oppress or subjugate other ppl); or
b) freedom to be an asshole without social consequences (including expressing repugnant beliefs).

i think what MAGA imagines is a return to the an antebellum constitutional order but that, as you say, amounts to the dissolution of the union as it has been

I've mentioned before that the logic of Trump II points toward dissolution of the union. And the three straightest paths to that are ending rule of law, corrupting elections and tanking the dollar.
Trump and MAGA are speedrunning all three.

Why doesn't Canada already have a stronger relationship with Mexico? | CBC News
"There's a historic reluctance by Canada to engage seriously with Mexico," said Carleton University professor Laura Macdonald. "And there's a tendency for them to fail when they try to work together."
This article leaves out the two often-unstated but very obvious reasons why Canada has historically not engaged much with Mexico:
Canada's ingrained racist and classist policies and attitudes. I believe those can change, but most Canadians treat Mexico as "resort zones + danger zones". That's bad.

I think Bouie is right. This right wing SCOTUS majority uses reasoning similar to the infamous Plessy v Ferguson which gave the green light for Jim Crow.

For clarity: The right wing SCOTUS majority allowed gerrymandering (Rucho). And the GOP has been doing it for years as part of REDMAP. These folks are against democracy.

Justice Roberts allowed all this gerrymandering to occur (Rucho v Common Cause among others). Just so weβre clear. The right wing SCOTUS majority is against democracy.

So Canada created an AI Minister. Even if no Canadian politician believes this ideology/religion, the fact that we have such a high profile public office suggests that cynical politicians will make empty gestures to bolster their popularity with AI bullshit.
