@crockett.house.gov: "They pledge their fealty to some idiot who's obviously struggling mentally. Whether it's mental decline or whether he's ever had the capacity, they decided they're going to do whatever he wants them to do.. I never thought I'd see the day that a Texan would bow down to a NYer."

What happens if you don’t do background checks or training for thousands of people and you give them all total authority?

ICE has been caught looting and destroying property at Pittsburgh restaurants. They even tried to break into the safes. They loaded food, supplies and equipment into vehicles

A Chrome browser error page displays the familiar “Aw, Snap!” message, indicating that something went wrong while loading a webpage. A pixelated frowning file icon with Xs for eyes appears at the top left. Below, the error code reads “Out of Memory,” suggesting the browser ran out of system resources. The page includes a “Reload” button in blue on the bottom right

behold the "HTML bomb"

It's a counterattack for AI companies that persistently scrape and rescrape your web site, even when you tell them not to

when a scraper grabs it, it becomes a 10-gig HTML page and 💣 goes the scraper

Remember this image every time someone tells you that protesters are "hurting their cause."

Those people are the red bars. In 40 years, we'll look back at them the same way.

I am so embarrassed for humanity.

We had this disease eradicated. The process of keeping it that way was SO SIMPLE.

And because of a bunch of idiots, and bunch of grifters making public health into an ideological football, here we are.

Just a faceplant. A completely unforced error.

A great example of how perception is reality. Unless you live in Gotham City, it’s actually hard for the average person to tell how much the overall crime rate is changing.

So it then depends on how much they hear about it in the media they consume, including social media.

Trump only got 56% of the vote in Texas this last election.

Romney got 57%

GWBush got 59% and 61%

Reagan got 63% in 1984

Nixon got 66% in 1972

LBJ got 63% in 1964

FDR got 88%, 87%, 80%, 71%

In the Solid South era, Dems routinely did >70%.

None demanded the prize that Our Special Boy wants

RFK Jr.'s Stunning Claim About Black People And Vaccines Sparks Concern From Medical Experts Experts weigh in on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s controversial take and what they want everyone to know.

“We should not be giving Black people the same vaccine schedule that’s given to whites, because their immune system is better than ours.”

This is from RFK Jr., HHS Secretary, speaking in 2021.

In case you are wondering, this is not true. It is a racist trope.

Casar: "This idea of fining legislators -- and now I'm starting to hear about the governor or the speaker of the house trying to expel lawmakers from office -- is deeply unconstitutional and it is part of a worrying trend ... it's the kind of authoritarian thing that we think about in other nations"

To Live Inside a Lie Firing the top labor statistics official for doing the normal monthly jobs report is only the latest attempt to force everyone else to abandon reality too

Good @nicholasgrossman.bsky.social take on systematic lying as core to the MAGA project. Trump "degrades institutions by getting officials to lie or replacing them with someone who will." The official lie is an expression of power in and of itself:

Glad he’s honest about this. Now everyone can act accordingly.

There are certain lines I think you can and should draw such as: Dems should not abandon due process entirely once in power just because the GOP is shredding it now.

There are other things to that aren’t nonnegotiable values.

Shocked, shocked at this wholly unexpected turn of events.

If only someone had made a free downloadable comic which explained why this might happen and why his tariff policy is a ticking bomb.

The Recovering Republican in me would really like to remember it that way, but he did do those things.

What he didn’t do was declare the constitution irrelevant. Maybe only because he couldn’t have gotten away with it at the time; because the Southern Strategy was always pointed to this.

This is on point. Piling on to say that govt production of information fuels all sorts of endeavors completely unrelated to benefits, including state and local economic development strategies, business siting and diversification, and a host of other societal calculations and decision-making.

This is so important. The focus on job numbers ignores the fact that the BLS computes inflation (the CPI) which is directly linked to many government and non-government benefits. Any attempt at politicizing inflation numbers is very, very, very bad…

Well, I’m gonna insist that you listen to this.

Definition of terms:

“these people” = Latino migrants

“Inner city people” = Black people

“We tried to get them [inner city people] to do it” = slavery & sharecropping

NEW: Minnesota just ranked the third best state to have a baby. That’s no coincidence.

We’re expanding paid leave and child care, delivering a nation-leading child tax credit, and investing in public schools. We’re putting families first and it’s making a difference.

The Actual Conspiracy Theory Surrounding Trump and Epstein It’s not what you think it is.

Instead of waiting for (redacted or doctored) Epstein files, media should publish court docs alleging that Trump raped Katie Johnson at Epstein's home when she was 13.

Why ignore what alleged victims have to say while giving adjudicated or alleged perps unlimited air time?

This article does a drive by of the point but I rarely see it stated so explicitly -- if your bible of capitalism is Adam Smith's WEALTH OF NATIONS, then America's system right now is made up of *very bad capitalists*. We're not in late stage capitalism, we're in a mature pirate state.
