Meet Seedance 2.0, Hollywood’s Newest AI Copyright Headache The entertainment industry's AI copyright claims are strong, but Seedance 2.0 highlights the harder challenge: enforcing them across borders.

Seedance 2.0 drew cease and desist letters within days. One detail that no one's caught: Disney’s letter landed on the desk of a former Warner Bros. GCβ€”now ByteDance’s top lawyer. If that sounds tangled, wait until you get to the enforcement challenge.

An AI agent just tried to shame a software engineer after he rejected its code When a Matplotlib volunteer declined its pull request, the bot published a personal attack.

After having its code request rejected, an AI agent allegedly published a hit piece on the (human) gatekeeper.

While the idea of autonomous defamation bots is intriguing (in a sci-fi kind of way), there are critical gaps in this story. 🧡

I missed this earlier - I'm sorry about that. But yes, the USPTO is very serious about filings that involve the unauthorized practice of law.

USPTO may not move quickly, but they at least move comprehensively:

➑️ my info has been removed from each of the fraudulent TM apps

➑️ my declaration was posted as a Public Note on each of the apps

➑️ all of the apps are suspended

➑️ the company registering them is suspended pending an admin review

Ill be clear about why I am so angry and critical about it: Im seeing a good portion of my students who have imbibed the notion that they dont have to read, think or write for themselves because ChatGPT/CoPilot will do their thinking for them, and its terrifying. It should scare all of us.

Warning: β€œFancy” QR Codes Are Making Quishing More Dangerous Scammers are increasingly using visually stylized QR codes to deliver phishing links, Help Net Security reports.

I'm very wary of scanning QR codes for exactly this reason. It's basically clicking a link posted by an unknown person where you can't see easily where the link goes. #security #nightmare

Inspired by a delightful back-and-forth on here recently between @robertloerzel.bsky.social & @ladytophamcatt.bsky.social sharing photos of the Chicago Municipal Device, I thought it’d be fun to write about what the hell it even is and why you can spot it all over town once you look for it
