A banner with a cobblestoned street in black-and-white at night as the background. It's entitled The Twinned Trilogy by Tris Lawrence, and shows three books covers: Book 1, Commit to the Kick, featuring a muscular man in a purple and white football uniform with a roaring bear and dragon behind him; Book 2, Missed Fortunes, with two people in casual modern clothing falling from a tower as the twoer burns and explodes, cards falling about them; and Book 3: Into the Split, showing two people from behind as they look toward three gnarled, dark trees in a heavily shadowed forest. The Duck Prints Press logo is in the upper right corner.
Happy Launch Day for our awesome queer trilogy of modern-with-magic novels by Tris Lawrence! These college students have magical Talents, and they've learned about a threat that could end the world! And they still have exams!! Learn more on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/duc...

- Learn cake decorating. I've started dabbling over the last couple of weeks but want to get more intricate with it.
- Set time aside to get back into playing electric cello / bass guitar regularly.
- Learn to draft sewing patterns! Worst part of transition has been boring men's plus-size fashion.

People always say "don't add pop culture references to your books because it dates them" but I want my books dated. They're specific pockets of time that won't mean the same thing outside of context. If you're writing anything that engages with the world around you, it will be dated.

As we start romanticizing art & community again, can we also romanticize writing as a communal activity instead of a elitist loner one?
I write best with friends. I love sharing messy WIPs. The most rewarding part of writing is getting to see other people's reactions to what I've made.

One of the funniest points in my early(ish) transition was when I set off the body scanner at the airport and the person running it looked me up and down, visibly hesitated, then gestured to her male colleague and said "do you⦠have a preference as to who you'd like to pat you down?"

A lot of creators essentially saying "My work might contain nudity and sexual situations, but it's NOT porn. My work is important and artistic, while their work is dirty, which is still okay to hate and censor." But guess what! The purity squad makes no such distinction.

Can y'all please boost this? The number one thing that keeps indie authors locked in with Ingram over literally every better printer out there is their monopoly on distribution.
Their quality, prices, customer support, etc. ALL suck & everyone knows that, but has no other way to get into stores.
