when anyone says they worked hard on AI output you gotta hear it in the same way as a boss who says they worked really hard on something by which they mean they just kept telling other people who know how to make the actual work to do it better and redo it because it's not what they meant to ask for

normalized lawn aesthetics are terrible for the climate and it is wild to me people who have (fully valid) concerns about reducing cars, AI, etc don't seem to bring it up more. 1,000 miles of driving, regularly, for every lawn. I hear one outside my window now

Speaking from experience, the ability to detect when such study stops being fun and becomes all-consuming is an incredibly important skill to cultivate.

It used to be understood that real estate developers were evil in movies, we gotta get back to that. Not just a politics thing it’s just a good plot device.

I feel like a lot of the problems with science fiction can be boiled down to how bad, on the whole, Starship Troopers (Book) and Stranger In A Strange Land are.

Smoke detectors should know what time of day it is so if they’re running low on batteries they can think, “that’s more of a mid-morning problem.”

Star Trek The Next Generation scene. We're on the Enterprise bridge, point of view from the captains chair facing forward. We see two officers at their consoles facing the view screen. On the view screen is shown a shiny and black non humanoid looking alien, hard to make out how it looks, more of a silhouetted shadowy future space alien vibe. Behind the figure is cascading blue lights. Closed caption reads, "Conversation is neither required, nor desired."
