A beautiful young Laughing gull calling. Probably not actually laughing given that its incessant calls for food went unanswered. Chasing mom around didn't help either. I think her message was, you can feed yourself now!

Ringing gathered a bit of momentum at the Bill today: 180 new incl 74 Swallows, 22 Chiffchaffs and 18 Blackcaps; nice variety of other seasonable movers incl 7 Pied Wagtails, 5 Long-tailed Tits, 4 Redpolls and a Firecrest...

They are known to mix a muddy grey-blue or pea green saliva paint in their mouths, which they use to decorate their bowers. The bower consists of two walls of sticks, decorated with shells, seeds, leaves and berries.
