My two upper limb # were both bike related. (Both predate our clinic). One I just lifting bike over a fence 200m from home. The other was on day 1 as an ortho h/s😊

Many observations as a “user”…one of the little things that makes a big difference is two pillows on the theatre table. It’s more comfortable and you can see more than just the ceiling. So its less depersonalising

Now I need to know if you’re mains powered campers or if the roaster is some sort of stove top / gas powered contraption - which would be seriously artisan

I like being an anaesthetist on days like this.
Both @assocanaes.bsky.social and @rcoanews.bsky.social are well established on a lot of platforms.
The more folks realise that as users, WE get to decide which platforms should succeed, the better.

NZ taxpayers spent $6M to bring Michelin stars here and only paid $3M to the WHO.
Contributing to world health seems like a much better spend to me. #nzpol

Kōtuku just airborne with wings spread. Partially reflected in water. Reeds in water, harakeke behind the kōtuku. With a patch of blue shy & a glimpse of the hills in the upper left
And this on today’s tootle along the shoreline. Yet again the phone does the job quite well (& I didn’t have the “real”camera with me

I would rather be at a small bar where Nazis aren’t welcome than a big and noisy bar with lots of Nazis, even if there are some good people still at the Nazi bar. It’s a Nazi bar.
And Threads is just bad.

I mean yes let’s not use minimum flows with TIVA but both absorbent and energy for gasses are (relatively) small fish in the over cost / footprint.
19.01.2026 21:47 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
My take is that it’s really really complex. And if you’re interested in CO2-equiv footprint it’s even worse. Things like cost & source of energy for the O2 & air. My pragmatic approach is about MV, so 70ml/kg (4-6l/m) to minimize absorbent use

We didn’t realise the importance of the “induction” until a decade ago. Or the high flow for preO2 & then vapor added at that flow. We encouraged FGF of 2-4 once BMV established if adding vapour. Efforts here will actually make more difference than getting maintenance flows right down

Thanks! Lucky that there’s been a bit of a lower flow culture for my entire career that we just reinforced with data. The maintenance flows “for safety” is frustrating from a group that identify as evidence based / interested in tech (when it suits)
