I'm not even hating on VR here. I love Beat Saber! There's lots of cool stuff you can do with VR. But you want to connect everything people do with the internet with some sort of VR Overworld that requires the user to wear vision-occupying goggles? Why?

I know that no one gives a shit about any "metaverse" anymore, but I never got a good explanation, even from well-meaning tech people who were sincerely trying, on what the value proposition for a VR interface for the internet was supposed to be. To this day, I don't know.

I've never really looked into this: what makes eSports people age out? Is there an "athletic prime" for the twitchy physical hand-eye stuff you gotta do with a steep fall-off? Or maybe there's just more money to be made elsewhere?
