13.10.2025 07:43 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Their votes were discarded during the counting because they had not listed enough candidates.
They (just Vanderviss voters) could have swung the election either way if they had spent the time for a more nuanced vote.
In the Ōtepoti mayoral race it's interesting to look at the details of the vote counting, in particular Vanderviss's voters. At the point he was eliminated he had ~8500 votes. 1300 of those went to Sophie Barker and 2400 went to Sims. So ~4800 people just ranked Lee

Everything that makes Aotearoa New Zealand unique is related to Māori culture. Welcome to the country, that's a pōwhiri. We are gonna thrash you at sport, that's a haka. Traditional meals, that's a hāngī. Matariki that's our New Year
If you don't like Māori stuff maybe you're in the wrong country?
Lets get going!

11.10.2025 10:01 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah I attended that meeting, it was organised by one of the many ratepayers organisations (so many splitters I can't keep track which) - a bit cookery, big fans of the anti-vaxxer, I was with a small lefty contingent supporting the vampire among others
11.10.2025 09:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Yeah that was my feeling, the vampire did talk a lot more sense than most of the candidates
11.10.2025 08:33 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I will note that in today's Ōtepoti mayoral election the antivaxxer was outvoted by the vampire by almost 2 to 1

He’s leaning out, and holding up a parachute pack, labelled “Job Seeker” He’s calling out to someone falling from the plane, “And I’ve kept your parachute because you kids from low-income homes need some motivation” Then he adds, “Don’t let that disability slow you down!”
Govt to cut #JobSeeker benefit for 18 & 19 year olds who’s parents earn over $65,000, even if the teens have a disability or health condition. With #CostOfLiving & the job shortage they’re cranking up stress levels to 11, all to meet a target.

In Gaza, hunger doesn’t knock — it moves in.
It tucks the children into bed with empty stomachs.
It whispers through the night louder than the bombs.
We need food. We need safety. We need the world to care.
Please don’t scroll past our pain 💔🙏🏻
