Thank you. The hotel policy is a disaster and the government should have listened to experts and sought to close them far faster. But the key is speeding up the process so it doesn’t take a year to process those from war hit countries

A desperate, opportunist press and vicious politicians: no wonder the debate on refugees is so awful | Jane Martinson Migration is one of the most important issues of our time and needs serious consideration. History will damn much of the UK media for failing to do that, says Guardian columnist Jane Martinson

Migrant hotels in some of the poorest parts of the country help no one but this terrible situation is being manipulated by politicians and the media alike. Me for the Guardian

Record proportion of A-level students get top grades in England Of more than 1.1m entries, 28.2% gained A or A* and 9.4% gained A*, though regional variations remain

Right then, my beloved youngest has got into her top choice university, I’ve eaten cake and scrolled insta for empty nest videos. Now sharing this on how fewer kids are taking A levels and how regional and class disparities persist. My job is done #nomoreexams

US users currently pay nothing for BBC News content - when UK users pay the licence fee. Surely there must be some demand for its services.

But publicly funded US media is under pressure from Trump. Will they be the priority for those willing to pay?
