Exactly, tbh I would like to be excited by new pokemon games. But I just can't be atm.

To some extent. Though they vary depending on what is available to the company and how they handle things.
One thing to keep in mind for this specifically is that the funding for ZA was lower than Arceus by 1-2 million. And that there are examples of rpgs from indie companies which put more in.

What a game backed by nintendo as well as being their highest selling IP, should be, at least development wise. They don't put the money back into the games. And they absolutely could. Instead you get underfunded, rushed and half assed outcomes.

It's Nintento, which both relatively underfund it compared to other properties and rush development. I don't really think it's GameFreaks issue. Though the textures and rendering are kinda atrocious, that could again be down to rush and underfunding.

For me it's not about the length of the game, I find that's only one metric, you can make a game as long as you want. Doesn't mean it's gonna be any good. As for how long I don't know myself. Apparently completionism wise you can do it in 49hours or so. From howlongtobeat.com?q=pokemon

It's more the scale doesn't fit, I wont pay for something that a company doesn't put their all into. Especially when they continue to do it over and over again. The games are effectively carried by being pokemon. Simply, other games deserve my money more than that one.

I feel like a lot of the negativity comes from a perspective of expecting more, mainly considering the company behind them, and other practices around how they handle development. It's the main reason I'm just not getting Pkm games atm. Though I could have fun with them, I don't see them as worth it
