Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

If you are a Republican, and you have a kid with an IEP, this is the moment when you understand that you may support Republicans, but they don't support your family.

Atrocious headline.

Here's a better one: Musk is trying to make his closest approximation of a woman who can't say no and peddling that trash to the rest of us.

Ah, I see. It'll be super disruptive either way, but a cancelation would preclude recouping any of the costs.

In all likelihood, LA still happens because the IOC is hilariously corrupt. But if LA doesn't happen, a new venue is more likely and a better move for them than a cancelation.

Denver was chosen in '70. So it was very much already scheduled.

LA is still over two years out. Hell, put them back in Tokyo. Those facilities are still basically in place.

Not exactly. Denver was supposed to host the 1976 games. Long story short, Colorado voters said they wouldn't pay for it, and in 4 years' time, the Games were moved to Austria.

IOC can pick any city that has hosted a summer games in, say, this century.

Comic books are (and this isn’t hyperbole) the greatest story telling medium that has ever existed. The combination of text and images rendered with a human hand is the most direct path from one mind to another. All other medium pale in comparison.

I have the privilege of my Senators and Rep being, I don't know, regular adults rather than a dipshit middle schooler in a grown man's body, so I really need someone with better access to do us all a favor and ask them why.

Someone who, by dint of their job, gets to be in a room with Ted Cruz needs to ask him, in front of a camera, what the hell is wrong with him, he is a gods damned Senator.

I saw someone say the other day that we are all living through a cultural gas leak. And, honestly, there is no better metaphor.

5 000 years at least of devising counting systems, all culminating in a calculator that can just be flat out wrong.

Top shelf work, everyone involved.

If the only thing that my kids said, by way of eulogy, was that I showed them that I loved them by crouching over very sharp pins and very dead bugs for their collection, I'd be content.

I'm guessing none of the powers that be at Disney/ABC were still paying attention at the "Oppression is the mask of fear" part of Andor, but it'd be neat if they checked that episode out.

It's refreshing when The Movie that your kids want to watch on a loop is also just a great movie.

2025 marks the fifth year talking comics history with @paisleylizard.bsky.social, @bethpollard.bsky.social, and @yidcaledon.bsky.social at #RCCC!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our panel on artificial life in comics across time and space.

Looking forward to next year!

This piece does not mention Texas once. If you don't know why that's an issue, this should not be the first thing you read on this topic. Even if you do know, save yourself some time and don't bother--it's a waste of printed words.

The goal is to make anything -- ANYTHING -- that P2025 views as problematic obscene. Lou Reed's "Take a Walk on the Wild Side"? Obscene. You can be arrested and charged for just listening to it.

This is foundational censorship, dressed in the same bullshit Christian Values/Protect the Children bs.

That's the part of the article that most bothers me. Most of the principles show the obvious drawbacks, and the rest offer no concrete benefits. And yet, the conclusion is somehow "we can incorporate these programs into our scholarship and pedagogy??
Friends, the evidence points the other way.

At bottom, these programs are an attempt to sidestep work and thought, which is inimical to historical thinking. Not to mention the gross environmental and economic costs. And to treat this as some kind of inevitable paradigm shift is truly ahistorical thinking.
