See… while I think Resident Evil and Control are gun games, I think Silent Hill and Alan Wake are sword games. While there are guns, the things that stick in my memory are more sword coded.

I was going gum based on the vibes really but you may have convinced me here.

I was looking at my top 20 games of all time and there are four gun games: Persona 5, Silent Hill 2, Starcraft and Tetris. So I think I'd have to go with sword even though I would miss those four games for sure.

Assuming that every video game is a "Gun Game" or a "Sword Game", if you could only play one or the other, which would you choose?

I tried Brandon Sanderson to see what all the fuss is about and it wasn’t for me. Got about 150 pages into The Final Empire and decided I’m good on that. People told me the prose was simple but I wasn’t prepared for just how plain it would be. Also some questionable gender/race stuff…

The leadership of the Tabletop Game Designers Association was disappointed to see the publisher CGE touting Codenames: Back to Hogwarts, a new Harry Potter-themed version of Codenames.

Keep them for prototyping if they’re general use enough, otherwise I throw them out.

I’m going in on the Raiders as my AFC team to support this year. I’ve always loved the look of the black and silver and their classic logo, and now that they nabbed Pete Carroll and Geno Smith, and just have a very fun seeming roster, I’m taking the plunge.

I’m feeling strangely disenchanted with board games recently. I don’t know that I have the language to fully explain why and I’m hoping that it’s temporary. It does make it easy to compartmentalize my job and have a healthy relationship with my work though.

I have a bunch of lyrics in a notebook somewhere, and a rough instrumental for the track “Murder Death Kill”. That’s about as far as it got.

I don’t think so. While the worms are big monsters, the movie lacks the use of verticality that I think is actually pretty key to Kaiju. Either through their height, the urban landscape or flying creatures. And when the tremors do get to flying they’re no longer big enough to feel like Kaiju.

I had to leave OrcaCon a bit earlier than intended because I had a sudden onset of flu-like symptoms. Those symptoms have rapidly worsened. So if you hung out with me and you start to not feel well, get hydrated and take it easy. My apologies for possibly incubating a pathogen.

I want connectivity and not obligation or commitment. The moment it’s about a campaign that’s laid out over a specific number of scenarios where I will likely need to get the same group over and over I am probably out these days. Though I probably back to support anyway for you guys.

I’ve seen a couple BGG threads where designers have gotten upset about house rules or player aids the community has made and I always find it baffling. I’ve been lucky enough to work on multiple games with active home brew communities and I love it!

The newest update for the Stellaris board game says we can sign up to do an editing pass on the game's cards, and man does that leave a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing. Requesting free labor from your backers... on a project that's WAY behind schedule even... Am I alone on this?

This was the game that made me realize that heavy euros just weren't the games that get me jazzed anymore. Which is a me thing, not this game's fault.

I think people who haven’t worked as much in the mass market side of the industry would be surprised to know how often a game starts from components or even a good name.

Great choices. I’d probably replace Zelda with Metaphor and then try to shoehorn Arco in somehow but I’m pretty close to you. UFO 50 going unrecognized at the game awards would be a real shame so I hope they get something.

That makes sense. Since all my bigger games only say Prospero Hall on the box I don’t have much of a fan base. Discords feel very different, more like the forum days of the early aughts. I’m enjoying that but could see how it would be different if I had more of a fan base.

The vibes here are so much better than on Elon’s Fascist Playground but I am beginning to wonder if I need social media in my life at all? Is the answer a replacement platform? Not sure yet.

I have really lost patience for heavy euros specifically. I still like other heavy games, but euros all blend together for me. And the games rarely make powerful memories. If I’m going to learn a heavy game I want social mechanics and discussion not heads down problem solving for 3 hours.

New hat came today. Really love the Clink Room’s stuff. I think this is the 6th one of their hats I’ve gotten.
