One example was a chatbot mimicking a 5 year old child for early years ed. But the dataset has little if any writing *by* 5 year old children. Any underrepresented group will have the same issues.

Plus the "baby peacock" phenomenon is fairly well known so posts *about* it add to the problem!

I think it's a mix of things. I think they're just a cute thing for AI content creators to make, a well known animal with a less well known chick that people fall for and share, and experts won't use "baby peacock" (they'll say peafowl or peachick), so that buries real images.

The drift towards the political hard right of tech moguls surfaced again in @andytattersall.bsky.social's talk. This causes huge challenges to what we as institutions use, and what we ask our students use and sign up for. #socmedhe24

(But the whole Musk debacle showed the error of relying on a single private company's product as a benign communication tool)
