I’m thinking of starting this, just a gut feel that tells me I’m going to love it.
Will I buy Vol 1? πŸ€”

You’re so right. There is a very cozy fantasy that we once lived in harmony with the land, like the Hobbits.
This was never so. We, the Western World, were once at the mercy of the land, then, thanks to Nitrates, we became masters of the land.

Be kind, not judgemental.
Be accepting, not entitled.
Be strong, not aggressive.
Be still, stop striving.
Trust yourself, question your motives.
Listen to the breeze in the trees,
it will never lie.

Incy Wincy spider climbed up the Water Spout.

Then came AI, and Incy was let go under the misguided idea that you can replace employees with Tensors and Back Propagation.

I was very dissatisfied with that book. Two hundred pages and not a single mention of Cthulhu.

Cover of Ace Frehley’s Solo Album. A portrait of Ace Frehley head and shoulders. Ace’s face appears from a black background his stage make up lit from his right side, white face, silver stars over each eye, his dark hair, long and falling either side of his face, lit from behind with a blue light defining the edges.

A WD40-powered Time Machine is now the plot of a novel I have to write. The protagonist will travel to the distant future where WD40 is no longer needed and has to reinvent it,
ending up litigation with the original patent owner.
Essentially a time travel court room drama.

A photograph of an eight inch floppy disk next to a five and a quarter inch floppy disk. Showing the much larger size. The eight inch disk is on the left and the five and a quarter on the right. Both disks are a flat black square of Matt plastic sleeve with a round hole punched in the centre. A narrow slit which is rectangular but with rounded ends is at the bottom centre of each disk.

If you needed more storage you had to go for the 8 inch Double Sided Double Density floppy, getting you a whopping 1.2MB, still not enough for a single MP3.

To really put it into perspective you could get one .png file on there, not a photo though, you’d only get a logo or other simple graphic.

This is a fine essay indeed, and has sparked questions in my mind now.

The main one is why now?

Loomis tells us Michael has been catatonic since that night in β€˜63
What has caused him to awake from this state to repeat on this particular Halloween?

Screen shot of the horror zine submission guidelines for fiction. They contain a long list of what they want and how you should write it. It is very prescriptive but covers things even an average writer should know already.

But they REALLY know what they do want, and have created a good AI prompt for you to cut and paste.

Show: Stabbing a thumb into his chest, he snarled through gritted teeth, β€œNot me.”

Still from the film Longlegs showing the main character Lee Harker, played by Maika Monroe, in a white blouse and black pants with her FBI lanyard around her neck. Her hair is drawn back in a loose ponytail and her collar is open showing a crucifix necklace.
She is centre frame from, just below, the waist up.
Arms a straight down at her sides, her expression is one of tension, fear and shock. She stares straight ahead, head tilted slightly backward and her mouth open.
She is pressed back against up what looks like a white roller door. The picture suggests someone frozen in place through fear or shock.

Bit late to the party on this, but is Maika Monrore's Lee Harker in Longlegs one of the best characters in a story. Gripped from the opening scene to that shocking climatic scene.

I would like to be able to write a character like that.
