a program screenshot of a program called "OPL3 Snooper", "created by Mu0n, November 2025 v0.4".

It's mostly a bunch of hex numbers besides 18 channels marked by lines from CH00 to CH17. There's a piano keys graphic at the bottom and some text UI functions highlighted in blue like "Quit, Load, Info in real time and Pause and Snoop!"

I could do the same with MT-32 and General MIDI tracks, but I spent energy on this classic fm synth sweetness!

Foenix Retro Systems is Splitting into 2 Entities - Here is why!
This is an announcement video where I talk about the sale of the F256x Assets to a new company where it is going to thrive and for me to explain some of the reasons why it happened. Foenix Retro Systems is Splitting into 2 Entities - Here is why!

Foenix Retro Systems splits!
The 8 & 16 bit assets and IP are sold to a new company called 'Wildbits computing company' headed by Aleksey
while the 32-bit 68k stuff will live on in a new 'Foenix Labs' still headed by Stefany Allaire.

Here's an announcement video.

NEW VIDEO is up, about 2 programs that help me dig for new sounds. Uses MIDI in, drives a dual SID or a YMF262 (opl3) on my F256K2.

The randomizer function is really fun and can land on some sweet sounds!

below: same, but under a new revision where everything is a through hole component. the switch that toggles between 1 and 2 player mode is notably chunkier.

I was asked to do a revision with through-hole only components for the PC Gameport Party, I obliged. Exact same functionality, and today I made extra crispy sure it would work by assembling a unit. All tests pass!

Solder SMD diode PCB PC Gameport Party
The PC Gameport Party is a breakout board that lets you use every device that was supported on the legacy gameports of old vintage PCs: 2 joysticks, 1 MIDI in device and 1 MIDI out device, all at the same time. Buy it at jcm-1.com's store (Joe's Computer Museum): PC Gameport Party: https://jcm-1.c Solder SMD diode PCB PC Gameport Party

picoGUS will be able to route your notes through its midi out, but it doesn't have a midi in unfortunately. Also, its joystick is through a USB thingy so it wouldn't accommodate the legacy pinouts of a real game port.

You can still play with your typing keyboard though. There's a bit over 2 octaves

let me know how it goes - it's not extensively tested rough version, bugs are likely! It already chokes a bit (with the typing keyboard) on my 486DX2/66, but behaves well with the midi in controller

* generate a random OPL2 instrument for you to dig and test out its * values (I use that to find new interesting sounds for other projects)

* takes in MIDI in
* reroutes to: MIDI out, PC Speaker, or OPL2
* supports polyphony

NEW VIDEO IS OUT: it explains everything about my PC Gameport Party PCB I designed last year.

All the use cases scenarios I had in mind, including the ones that combo with the MIDI selectors I also designed.
