Israel plans to seize Gaza under a new plan, officials say
Two Israeli officials say ministers have approved a plan to seize the Gaza Strip and to stay in the territory for an unspecified amount of time.

No food, aid, or fuel have entered Gaza since March 2.
Community kitchens have closed. Children are sick, thirsty, and starving.
Now Netanyahuβs government wants to occupy Gaza and shut down the existing aid distribution system run by the UN and its humanitarian partners.
Arms embargo now.

Some in Labour HQ may want to reflect on this - hereβs a policy which has drastically improved air quality, benefitting the poorest citizens. But Starmerβs LOTO started criticising it because a couple of Clarkson bigmouths complained in focus groups & they (wrongly imho) blamed it for Uxbridge loss

π¨NEW: Ofgem price cap raises by 6.4%, meaning customers will pay Β£111 more on average (per year) on energy bills.
Higher energy costs arenβt just due to rising gas prices. Companies are exploiting our dysfunctional energy system for profit.

The circular logic of climate apartheid: Alphabet can't make its (already bullshit) climate commitments because they have to generate huge emissions for training models that will be used to kill climate refugees.

Trump is capitalism in human form, stripped of its disguises. The violent seizure of other people's resources, the exploitation of other people's catastrophes, the predatory gleam in the psychopath's eye.

Book recommendation: Sunil Amrith's excellent 'The Burning Earth'
Have environmentalists faced up to how scary people find climate action?
Do we need to think more seriously about the limits between justice, freedom and climate action?

Microsoft shareholders reject proposal addressing links with fossil fuel companies
The resolution was brought forward by environmental nonprofit As You Sow
Microsoft shareholders have rejected a resolution urging the company to address the sale of machine learning products to fossil fuel companies using it to dig up more coal, oil and gas
Kind of an open admission of what their priorities here are, and way more honest than their flashy env reports

The Tories pitted housing against nature. Labour will help both
Steve Reed, environment secretary, and Angela Rayner, deputy prime minister, promise new bill will develop 1.5m new properties and help wildlife thrive
Genuinely fantastic to see housing and environment treated as a connected issue here.
But nothing about emissions or climate impacts. And no reference to how they will help the people who go on to occupy them live sustainably, affordably and safely.

More poorly informed takes on climate from The Rest Is Politics as they assess COP29.

Instead G20 should have met for a couple more days to "crack this".

Many modeling studies depend on direct air capture (DAC) in their 1.5Β°C stabilization scenarios, but they rely on overly optimistic assumptions regarding the cost and scaling of DAC systems. This leads to highly misleading results that impact the ability to reach climate stabilization goals.
