John Ball presented at the bi-annual linguistics conference at Kobe University in Japan.
There wealth of knowledge from linguist researchers and scientists studying the world's languages is a marvel. It also is what is missing from today's AI. Next generation language AI will be enabled by it.

John Ball writes about the difference with cognitive AI and why it is the last 'interface we'll need' because it is accurate and efficient - trustworthy.
New adventures in #AIhype
"I suspect the real move here is simply, as it so often is, to hype the product β basically by saying, hey, look at how smart our product is, itβs so smart we need to give it rights." ~ @garymarcus.bsky.social

#GenerativeAI
Safer, accurate and energy efficient technology exists when we look past today's generative AI to brain emulation of language and vision comprehension.
Cognitive scientist John Ball shows the world the benefits of that next generation tech.
My first post for a while because John Ball and I have been sharing the message out there to universities the value of emulating the brain for its language and vision comprehension.
Why is this so urgent now? The cracks forming for generative AI are wider than the Grand Canyon.....
Could you please add me? Co-founder of a machine intelligence company with linguistic framework Role and Reference Grammar at its core, enabling machines to break down the world's languages by 'meaning'. Thank you!
02.02.2025 22:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The perceived difficulty of learning languages has been superficially helped by language learning apps but not effectively. Rich cognitive sciences + new natural language understanding technology show a path forward for brain-like learning for the world's languages.

He's collaborating to bring his system English learning system to another level with John Ball's NLU.

For those interested in following the path John Ball wrote about last week to bring his technology to life, you might be wondering how enabling language comprehension for machines helps language learners. At the core of his system, is a linguistic framework connecting brains and machines.
02.02.2025 21:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When you solve 'comprehension' for machines of our language an unexpected benefit occurs. It becomes a virtuous circle between implementation on a machine and brain theory. One informs the other - continuously......

Cognitive Scientist, John Ball shows the magnitude of today's 'hallucination' problem contrasted with what we can have by choosing the brain emulation path for language and vision comprehension.

Watching a kid learn to ride a bike. Always fascinating. Show me a humanoid robot able to spontaneously learn to control a machine like that, with minimal supervision and instruction and do it in a few hours. We donβt need fancy benchmarks to understand we are nowhere near AGI.
